Off topic: While this professor writes how her students' reaction to Shylock have changed, she touches on some of what you had shared of your study of the play; hence thought you might have some passing interest in it.
Thanks. I find the author's concerns relevant but my interpretation would be somewhat different and without the need for defending S or apologizing for him.
