Rumour has it that J Street may have got to her, or that the security she insisted on would have bankrupted the IDF or that she refuses to breathe the same air as President Bush...
I'm sure Israelis are inconsolable.
And speaking of old dearies, I'd like to draw my readers' attention to a linguistic quirk which characterizes some Internet posters when they need to convey a superiority of thought and sentiment aimed at someone whom they consider to be an inferior human being, for not supporting the same political party or candidate they do. They call him or her: "dearie" or "m'dear ". Whenever I encounter this form of verbal condescension, I'm reminded of the four old dearies in Disney's Dumbo. Needless to say, the similarity is not limited to the type of language or preferred mode of sarcasm used...
