Europeans dont get to directly elect their representatives do they? They work their way up through the party, in whatever manner at their disposal. The party appoints their leaders and the people are just serfs to the parties. I think that is a big difference between the Parlimentary system and the US system. (Although some do directly elect a President).
I picked up on that NZ anti-semitism story a few days ago and posted it to an Australian political forum....but didnt get much interest in it. What I find so amazing is that New Zealand(with 7000 Jews) came up with this crapola. I mean are 7000 Jews a threat to 4.2 million Kiwis? Good Lord!

Obama is clearly the favorite candidate of people that hold strong Anti American views worldwide.
I find this disturbing.
I keep on getting put on probation, at CiF, where the mod must approve the comments before being posted.
I got banned once, already, too.
Of course, I am evil incarnate, the scourge of humanity, Christian Classically Liberal Republican American Conservative. So, no surprise, really.
There are Leftists over there that are praising the Russian's for their brutal compentency in Chechnya, and their rebuilding of the Chechnyan capital....unlike the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Its surreal.
Cif is a waste of time unless you are in the mood for entertainment. It's a place to vent, not to generate critical thinking.
I guess you are right. But I think its good to have practice at defending the goodness, and right, and the US, from such attacks. To understand the mindset of these viewpoints, so as to combat them effectively.
They have power, in the press and the voting booth. In case you havent noticed the US favoribility ratings are down worldwide and these narratives have become commonplace.
The latest being praising China as the new global superpower and the downfall of US Empire.
Many people that arent as well informed or has intelligent as even a stupid American God fearin redneck as me, get swept up in the non stop propaganda. A great line from the movie "Sneakers" starring Robert Redfort....."everything in this world, including money, operates not on reality -- but the perception of reality."
Sorry for rambling.
CiF commenters have no power. They cannot vote in American elections and I suspect it is something that drives them berserk with frustration. So instead they make a lot of noise. If you must read CiF try to find the meaningful signal within all that noise. And respond to that. If it depresses you too much just take a break from it.
