@ Pajama media: Defending Marty Peretz? I'm not so sure anymore. His latest post on the Spine reeks too much of reckless, self-indulgent, undemocratic sentiments
@ The Spine: Peretz's beef: too many ultra orthodox Jews in Israel Page 2 Page 3
@ Mick's: More Islamic Science, this time the connection between breast cancer, American women and the number of sexual partners (200-300 before graduating college)
@ The Spine: Peretz undecided: How to Lieberman without Liebermanning? Page 2

@ Terry Glavin's: In partial defence of Peretz
@ Bob's: Unsatisfactory conclusion of the One State solution kerfuffle
@ The Spine: Once again: Yosef Ovadia's End of time fantasy irks some people Page 2
Why is it that Jewish end of times fantasies bother people so? Why is there an attendant suspicion that the fantasy is just a precedent of some action? And why is such suspicion taken with such serious agitation of the spirit?
@ Pyramidion: The Egyptian blogger is a doctor with a deep interest in history, a penchant for TS Eliot's poetry which he quotes as his guiding light: " “We shall not cease from exploration".
His blog is an interesting demonstration of Egyptian intellectual classes, a strange mixture of nationalist pride, reverse-Orientalism and conspiracy theories, all served in a sauce of anti-Zionist jargon to boot.
A thoroughly depressing blog.

Reverse Orientalism
LOL!
Self preservation is a moral good, not a moral wrong, even when considering Jews or WhiteEuro Christians. The preservation and protection of liberty is as well.
The problem is that Islam and its agents, Muslims, are enemies of both.
It's OK to defend yourself from Nazis, Communists, and Muslims, and their ideologies. Even if one has to bend their own values and principles to do so. The important thing is that those values and principles continue to be a going concern, instead of dead under Nazi, Communist and Muslim rule.
Just clarified myself on Rep. Giffords - thanks for your clarity in the face of such a strange attack!
This left vs right frame has really gone too far. Krauthammer in today's WaPo was such a relief to read.
After reading Goldblog's two kinds of Israelis - I am totally convinced he and Peretz share a revulsion of the ultra-orthodox, not wanting to bother with even understanding what someone like Rabbi Ovadia is actually saying. Appreciate your translation.

Ron Radosh also came to Marty Peretz's defense.

"...liberalism, as personified by the New York Times, became a dotty old aunt sometime during the Johnson administration. She’s provincial, eccentric, and holds dull, peculiar views about the world. Still, she has our fond regard, and we visit her regularly in her nursing home otherwise known as Arts and Leisure and the Book Review. Or we did until Sunday, January 9, when she began spouting obscenities and exposing herself. ..."
perhaps Tucson will put the NYT obsession on Israel into perspective...

I find it hilarious that Peretz is now ripping the Orthodox Jews of Israel.
LOL!
Those damn Jewish bastards!
